Today In Antioch History: A Club That Would Have Me As A Member

I’m not exactly sure what happened to this club, but if San Francisco can have their Spinsters, Antioch ought to be able to keep a tight wad club going for more than 2 parties. It may not be fashionable to save money, but in the long run you are much better off.
One of the things that makes Antioch so special is that it’s a community that isn’t dominated by multi-million dollar homes and exclusive zip codes. Some people may want to make fun of a club that is devoted to scrimping on spending, but I think that it says a lot about the character or our early founders. The whole thing may have been a bit of a joke, but we’d love to see someone step up and revive this early city tradition.
