Brentwood’s Holiday on Ice Expected to be Big Sucess

ice skating

Brentwood is going to get another great treat this holiday season as Holiday on Ice returns to the Streets of Brentwood. The ice skating rink has been a big attraction for kids and adults of all ages. Previous year ticket sales have been in the thousands. The holiday event has generated sponsors from a wide range of area businesses. Some of the sponsors include names like Comcast (NYSE:CMCSK), Sutter Medical Center, Fremont Bank, AT&T (NYSE:ATT), Rubio’s (NYSE:RUBO), Chevron (NYSE:CVX‎), and Rave Motion Pictures just to name a few.

The program will run from November 14, 2009 through January 10 of next year.

Operational costs are expected to be offset even in our down economy because of all the great sponsorship support. The ice skating rink is around the same size as a football field and will be decked out with holiday lights and evergreen trees.

This is only the program’s second season, but skaters are already estimated to be over 30,000. If the progression in community participation continues at the current annual rate of increase Brentwood might very well be building its own indoor hockey rink soon.

Sponsorship opportunities still exist in a variety of different packages. Holiday on Ice is offering the following sponsorship levels, Olympic Sponsor, Silver sponsor, Gold sponsor, Platinum sponsor, and Title sponsor. The level and of involvement includes respectively $2,500, $5,000, $10,000, $25,000, and $50,000.

This is a great way for local businesses to get more involved in the community. Last year the participation was so great that many businesses asked how they can sponsor the event in coming years. Not only does sponsorship include name recognition for businesses, but you also are able to promote healthy athletic outdoor activities for all ages.

It’s estimated that a sponsors who post on the rink’s billboard will be seen by over 180,000 skaters and/or shoppers. Sponsorship inquiries are encouraged and should be directed to program organizer Lynn Roberts at 1700 Ashbourne Place, Brentwood, CA 94513.

Some ice skating tips from the pros include techniques on how to fall and get back up. Falling on the ice should be avoided at all expenses, but if you have to fall its best to bend your knees and squat into dip like position. The experts say to fall to the side while leaning a bit forward towards the ice. This will prevent you from falling backwards and hitting your head.

Trainers say not to put your hands on the ice because another skater could skate over your fingers. After you’re on the ground turn on your hands and knees and take one foot and place it in front of your hands. In order to prevent movement the skate toe picks should be used for stability. Now to get back up from this position just push forward while standing up on the ice.
